Chris. If u only held for 4 years u will be eligible for 50% CGT discount on the whole amount of 500K. Pretty much u will be including 250k on top of ur personal income and subjected to the highest tax rate for anything over 80000. If ur a low income earner probably sell a bit off at a time so u don't end up with a massive tax bill and lose ur pension status or whatever. It all depends on personal circumstances. This is not intended as perfect advice so check up on details before u do anything.
