Market commentators have plenty of sayings, but the one that resonates most with me is: "Don't fight the market".
Whilst I like to be contrarian in many instances, there is nothing to be gained trying to fight the might of MS, GS, MacBank, Citi etc as their pockets are vastly deeper than those of us retail investors. They are also a lot more patient than we are and, can afford to get it wrong. We need to preserve our limited capital and look to deploy it where it will make a return. At the moment, this sector is going to yield a negative return - even if I think it should be moving in the opposite direction.
