I have been interested in scandium for 30 years. It was only used back then and most later years for research. Originally, according to data available, it was sourced from pegmatites in Russia in the mineral Thortveitite. Kerry Packer tried to do recovery from Radium Hill, SA, tailings stored at Pt. Pirie, SA, back in the late 80's, unsuccessfully. As per normal in the mining business as soon as any mineral becomes flavour of the month it is then found everywhere and in different rock types. Myself and partners have a location with assays up to 500ppm+ in a different rock type to laterite. However, Scandium has a big bright future in my opinion. Particularly volume use in aviation. The price will drop in time.
