I think the biggest risk here still is direct extraction. He says that they are using a process used by Livent and others though, from my pretty extensive research into direct extraction, no one has really mastered the technique yet. The vast vast majority of Brine based lithium is still made by evaporation. This project if they get it right will be sensational, the jurisdiction is absolutely perfect. EU is worried about it's car industry and wants to put money into backing ventures which will secure it as the global leader in the space. VUL would be one of these companies assisting in that vision.
