Well, isn't the USA a country of immigration, just like australia? Immigrants over there aren't picking up the slack!!
I think a lot comes back to supply and demand, ive been told 80k 457 visa workers come into the country every year, they all need a bed, add this to normal immagration and we just keep filling the demand.
