There was a discussion,I think it was a Tretchikoff "report" that boutique brokers could use Commsec and Etrade to distribute and thus "cover" their client's activities. It was only BTIG showing up as a major Nett Seller that gave the clue they were acting for ROTH.
Sometimes one sees very detailed Becoming and Ceasing Substantial Holder Notices that come out of Global Brokers. These show every transaction entered into in time and price. One finds when combing these that BigBoy Brokers both Buy and Sell parcels achieving the ambition to either Nett Sell or Buy. Do you follow,shady? They're planning Accumulating or Distributing yet they do some opposite transactions for the same client while they do it.
BTIG didn't go in for it too much but they did have some 10's of 1000,s Bought while at same time registering millions Sold.
Shady it's legal Price Manipulation.It's NOT a Broker Firm acting for several clients because it's observable in the Notices for a single client.
Anyhow Brokers Reports are not much use compared to Share Register Analysis on say a monthly basis. The Register confirms the Who while Broker Registers only feed suspicions.
