If you pay the lease you pay the costs to generate revenue from said lease. If Mithra had to pay why would they even bother?
Edit: one very positive thing from having an established sales team is the exisiting relationships that will be able to be leveraged to encourage trial. This will work in favour of the product significanlty. A good sales team is worth its weight in gold.
