Somehow i think there's going to be more negotiations between Nexus and Shell considering their JV in AC/P41 and Nexus' gas sales agreement for AC/P23.

Considering the very large volumes of gas likely to be present in the Crux and greater Crux structure, and Nexus' intentions of an LNG scale design if the numbers support it, then SHELL will pounce.

In a separate statement, Shell Development Australia chief operating officer Chris Gunner said the divestment was consistent with Shell's emphasis on the development of gas opportunities in Australia.

"Shell's commitment to Australia is evidenced by our heavy investment in the North West Shelf and Gorgon joint ventures, and also by our increased activity in the acquisition of new exploration permit areas, farm-ins and the purchase of rights to the gas in the Crux field (from Nexus Energy Ltd)," Mr Gunner said.

"In addition, our exploration in the Browse Basin reflects the importance of Australia to Shell's global LNG (liquefied natural gas) portfolio.

"We see this as an opportune time to focus our efforts on integrated gas and look forward to continuing our very successful participation in the North West Shelf project, as well as a range of other joint ventures."
