In this case I am almost certain if this data and newsletter is correct it is the case of a secretary screwing up and putting a Johnny public dude on the internal email list. And this particular person has done the wrong thing with the info and released it themselves for their own gain, without the guidance from the company that would have gone with such an announcement which would explain this is a decent result from a small quick trial while developing a product.
