These are tricky times. The West has banned Russian sourced metals, including nickel, from trading on the LME and other platforms. What the effect of this will be is anybody's guess. Perhaps China and India will get a boost from cheap Russian nickel as happened with oil.
Now Biden, repeating the argument Janet Yellen voiced on her recent trip to China, that China is competing unfairly, has said he will triple the tariff on Chinese steel imported to the US.
So apparently globalisation is dead and protectionism is back - and what are we to make of it?
