Virtue signalling with token efforts will not please the market.
Earth's natural source of atmospheric carbon is volcanism, and absorption by biology and mineralisation has kept a fairly low level in the air for millions of years. About 1850, by burning fossil fuels, we overtook the natural volcanic production rate. Our current output is now more than sixty times the natural volcanic production. The natural balance is way out of whack.
It will not turn out okay if we do nothing.
Markets are already punishing those who are in denial of the situation.
