I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. Managers of battery makers and carmakers want cheap Nickel but they also need to know Indonesia is doing something in regards of ESG. And that is what is happening in Indonesia (think of solar, mine rehabilitation etc.). Therefore Australia will have a hard time to compete.
To stay with the free range eggs - if I can get free range eggs from another country which are far cheaper than from my home country, then I might skip the home grown eggs.
