Cam B, it would be nice if that is the case. However, over the past few trading sessions, the same thing has happened again and again; see the recent post by murrr. In every case, a large buy order is placed at the start of trade, and then it is filled by a large sell order later in the day to knock the SP back down to where it was (or lower in some cases). The trades usually account for most of the volume for the day. I have noted before that similar behaviour has occurred in periods of no significant news, when the SP can be easily moved by relatively low volumes. Let's see if today is any different!
