0910 [Dow Jones] Speculation continuing that China is circling Fortescue Metals
(FMG.AU). According to The Australian Financial Review, citing an unnamed China-based
source, state-owned Baosteel is believed to be interested in acquiring a significant
stake despite negotiations ending earlier this year on sale of a 16.5% stake, which is
held by U.S. fund Harbinger. Today's report won't come as a major surprise.
Reports in February said China Investment Corp., the country's A$200 billion
sovereign wealth fund were in informal talks with FMG. FMG not immediately available to
comment. Last trade A$7.41. (SVM)
