Looking back through presentations re: MID 2010
if I'm reading it right
cost of:-
C-Pulse device plus implant sub $100,000
Vad plus implant substantially more than $200,000 upwards.
A recurring revenue stream would occur with software updates etc.
Currently C_Pulse is being operated in a limited way. It can be turned off every x? beats to load the heart to help with recovery, a joint therapy approach with pacemakers is also being developed.
You'd have to check with the company what the expiry date is.
My understanding is that in the current form if the heart recovers C_pulse is left in place and the leads tucked back under the skin. Device can be restarted.
Near future, fully implantable version? Power source is still external. Action of cuff, frequent and fast but deliberately gentle and the materials used proven ie. my recollection of presentations is that durability is not a problem. Again you would have to ask the company for definitive answer.
On another tack.
