I can only see a benefit to a last-minute Friday announcement if it is a fundamentally very good and solid announcement.
That way everyone gets to stew over it all weekend and research the hell out of it, and investors would be queueing up on Monday to buy, which might cause a spike on the implicit hype.
An announcement with only face-value good content that is average once thought about is best off released in the middle of a trading session if the purpose is to maximise hype.
Personally I think the announcement will not be all that surprising but just another strong confirmation of the 12g/t figure with a final official seal of approval on it. And they can just put that out whenever they have it; I don't see it having a big impact in and of itself.
