Note the bloke with the metal detector near the pit.
I suspect that the pit location wasn't a randomly chosen test of the iron stone ridge, but was a hotspot found with the detector.
The big question is how much of the ironstone ridge has gold in it. Could be all of it, or just one teensy pocket on a small vein.
The jury is still out until that is clarified.
That being said, that's a bloody nice nugget in the photo, enough gold to pay for a nice Bali holiday for me, the missus and the kids.
