Zenith Minerals (ASX:ZNC) has intersected widespread, near-surface lithium in its maiden drill program at the Burro Creek project in Arizona.
The highlights included almost 23 metres grading 1,088 parts per million of the battery metal and 2.94% potassium starting from less than five metres below surface.
Within that there was a 9.1-metre section at 1,325 parts per million lithium 3.04% potassium.
Two other holes, starting from 19.8 metres and 24.4 metres respectively, delivered 1,180 parts and 1,361 parts per million lithium. Potassium grades were 2.23% and 3.23%.
Drilling only tested a quarter of total project

Zenith pointed out that drilling to date had tested only a quarter of the project area, which has recently been expanded.
“Mapping and sampling in the newly-staked western claim area has returned further, widespread, high-grade lithium clays at surface with two new areas identified each equal in size to the zone of lithium discovered in the current drill program,” the company told investors.
“Data compilation, interpretation and geological modelling [is] in progress, leading to a maiden mineral resource estimate.”
Project located in an active mining district

The Burro Creek lithium clay project is located in central-western Arizona and within an active mining district that includes giant Freeport McMoRan’s Bagdad porphyry copper mine, which is just 10 kilometres down the road.
