Hi SilentO, AMP used to satisfy the demand for DRP shares by issuing new ones: this diluted the total number of AMP shares. Given the large number of shares issued under the DRP the dilutive effect was not insignificant, therefore the Board decided this time not to issue new shares but to buy on market.
I quote from the announcement of 24th March:
"The DRP participation rate is 21 per cent of all issued shares. Shares are acquired on-market to satisfy entitlements under the DRP".
