Samson Oil & Gas Our January Stock Pick.

Why do we like this US focused junior oiler?
One, it doesnt bang the drum. Terry Barr prefers to understate and over
perform than vice versa. Thats a refreshing and welcome change from many
    junior oilers we cover.
Two, it has its Australian MD based in the US close to its projects. And
operates several of them. Thats always a plus for us. Better to keep a close
eye on whats happening than leave it to partners.
Three, it has production and cash flow. In the September quarter just over $1
million. Thats a lot better than more popular US focused juniors including
    Red Fork and Buccaneer.
Four, it has the backing of Macquarie Bank and Patersons Securities. That
could result in positive research notes ahead and buy recommendations to
clients particularly if the upcoming Gene #1-22H well in the Williston Basin
is as successful as we believe it could be.
Five, it is listed on the AMEX in the US where the market better understands
and appreciates the potential of the companys Bakken Shale play. Recent US
market action has driven the Australian interest. And we saw another 7% gain
on good volume in Fridays US trading. The shares closed there at US$0.28 or
roughly A$0.015 a share on the ASX. SSN closed Friday here at $0.014 after a
huge 74 million shares traded. Technically too it looks very strong.
Six, its Gene #1-22H well is a direct offset to a producer in Leonard #1-23H.
It is more a low risk development well that a high risk exploration.
It is expected to flow at rates of between 300 and 500 bopd per day.

    Two more wells to follow
    Gene #1-22H. And Ripsaw
    ahead onshore Texas.
    Improvements in drilling and
    completion technology made
    the Bakken possible.
    Samsons market cap
    compares favourably to its
    peers.
We wouldnt be surprised if it did better than that given wells in the Bakken
shale have IPd at up to 4,000 boe a day. One of Brigham Explorations wells
just 4 miles north west of Gene #1-2H IPd at 3,807 boe a day
Seven, the target is both oil and gas not gas alone.
