Nickel is breaking over $12/lb for the first time since June '08, bar a few weeks in April '10.
Divide that by the 0.99 exchange rate and we have $12.10/lb AUD or so. Or $26,700/tonne AUD.
Prices as at 24 January 2010 - $26,700/tonne AUD
Prices as at 31 December 2010 - $24,560/tonne AUD
Average for quarter ended 31 December 2010 - $23,892/tonne AUD
Average for quarter ended 30 September 2010 - $23,458/tonne AUD
It's a strong start to 2011. The quarter ended 31 March 2011 should be a good one!
By the way, $26,700 is only 8.7% higher than $24,560 but it increases our profit margin by 15.8%.
