Thats total nonsense. Lots of myths out there and that's certainly one.
Cobalt and nickel is simply used in lithium batteries (nickel batteries such as Nmh are way old school.
Lithium batteries are being developed that don't even need nickel or cobalt. All the current R & D is lithium. There is no better battery on the market and it is only a matter of time before Li super batteries are in production as the core R&D being done is Li. Its so good there is no incentive to look for a better alternative. The only alternatives that seem to get mentioned her at highly experimental labs with mixed results at best but the lithium R&D has surpassed them all
