Was the issued capital about 322m shares back then? Check out the volumes traded. Will the ASX be joined in the action given there were 16% of the shares said to be out on loan (presumably lent by the institutional holders of the 10% said to be in their hands)? Who did all the lending? Internet brokers? Or were some shorts 'naked'?
Regardless it should all be included among the reasons shareholders lost value. Is it all to be blamed on SGH? If not, how much? Who sets the threshold of fear at which individual's is triggered? Was the price they paid fair when they bought the shares? Why should shareholders who didn't sell get punished by having to pay the ones that sold when they did?
Go for the directors for incompetence or whatever by all means - but the Company?
What a can of worms. The world is insane. The US is even winning the Ryder Cup - no surprise there with Darren Clark as captain (who picks his best mate Westwood as a wildcard, who basically hasn't been able to play golf for quite a while - plus Kaymer because he holded a decent putt 2 years ago).
