Hard to measure who really is the greatest scientist but IMO he would have to be in the top handful.
I read awhile(10 or so years) ago that the Smithsonian had no mention of Tesla but instead had a huge display of Edison's achievements. They wanted to write Tesla out of history in favour of a native born American.
What is also interesting is how the FBI confiscated all his papers from his hotel room when he died in 1943, never to be seen again. What was in them? If it had been rubbish you can bet they would have released them long ago.
