for a start they could cancel the remaining a380s and buy 777s or just lease 20 of them... just like jetstar lease aircraft.
instead the money saved by cancelling the a380s is going to offshore part qantas owned airlines and of course jetstar.
by the way, the 747-400ER's are relatively new, they are worth far more then $20million. It's the ER's that are being reconfiged to a380 style cabins.
the B777 would make the oz-us route super profitable, the uk route profitable (ek/ey/ba/sq/nz/mh/cx) are all b777 operators doing the kangaroo route, all making squillions. qf int can't break even.
the b777 would make oz-europe destinations attractive again.
the b777 is the ultimate winner aircraft flying today and will be for 20-30 more years.
the fact that people in senior positions cant admit mistakes and rectify them is sad.
