What was ERM Powers plan for Mel when they bought 58 million shares? Were they hoping to take over Mel some day, or did they just want Mels gas? If they would just make it clear and not stay silent, maybe the State Govt, would have viewed Mel differently. ERM have been around a long time. They are also sitting on huge losses just like most of us old shareholders.
Just because LTG are well funded and organised does not make them right. The State Govt and the Gas Industry have failed to ease community concerns, and so this is the result. Im sure the pollies would be squirming if they lost ALL their retirement money, like I have with Mel. For the State Govt to cave in and buy out Mels pels is wrong. How come the people of the NR were okay with Mel drilling 50 wells and having had a presence there for 10 years? Mel was on the nose, only when LTG and the Greens started to make trouble.
Mels certified reserves sit just below STO and AGL, too big for the State Govt to Ignore, if they are serious on energy security, for NSW. Personally, would prefer Mel to continue business, because thats why we invested in Mel, in the first place.
