This whole situation puts the government between a rock and a hard place. If they pay out reasonable compensation they will still look incompetent. If they don't they show themselves as presenting a sovereign risk for business.
I really want the company to start drilling holes and selling gas but if the government wants it stopped I want the gas rights to stay with MEL in perpetuity until a new government gives the all clear. That's not to say I don't want to be compensated for the previous 10 years of investment.
This gas will be exploited by someone in the future.
