The problem is people don’t understand stats. Take LNG, its production is recorded as CO2 emissions in Australia’s CO2 accounts despite gas having half the CO2 emissions than coal. So the world benefits through China using LNG from Australia, rather than using its dirty brown coal. Btw, Australian coal is also better than Chinese coal. Get the drift, China is the world’s largest CO2 emitter, which would be worse if Australia did not export gas and better quality coal to it. Yet what we export is on our CO2 accounts. Per capita CO2 comparisons are a waste of time given how the statistics are derived - LNG production I suspect provides a reasonable contribution to Australia’s recorded CO2 emissions in the stats.
