    As I see it the current average internet download speed in Australia is about 12Mbps. Labor's plan will speed this up to 100Mbps, a multiple of 8 times faster. The coalition plan will double the current speed to about 25Mbps, with reduced coverage.

    But of much greater importance, the Coalition's plan to use Telstra's copper network will mean there is a permanent bottleneck in the delivery system in Australia. In other words any future technical advances will be constrained by this bottleneck and we will be stuck in the 20th century.

    It is worth noting that Singapore and South Korea and doubtless many other nations already on 100Mbps are currently working on increasing their speeds to 1 Gbps.
