Lets not forget its Hal drilling this well not Samson or TB in his spare time.
Lets also not forget Hal would want to have the most productive well to make it worth their while, they would not be keen on spending their hard earned cash drilling a dry well and things may have changed since the 3d was completed, eg different position.
