Of course you're correct and the issue of the relatively higher cost of steel production in India is an issue of the first order for their continuing industrialisation and growing prosperity. The article below from Hindu Business Line highlights the difference in costs of steel production between India and China. I think you'll also agree that it's a significant margin in favour of the Chinese at present:

No surprise then that SAIL and others are having a good hard look at our tech. It will be very interesting to see the forthcoming market update on India IMHO.
