Casting 4 A Cue Project Update September 2012

Hello everyone, hope you are had a great Summer and are getting ready for a nice Holiday season.

We are really looking forward to wrapping up what has been a great year in 2012 with respect to helping fund critical research projects for Rett Syndrome. Despite having to cancel our annual Steamboat CO event this year due to low water levels in the state, our Victor ID and Bar Z Ranch 2012 Casting 4 A Cure events were sold out and a tremendous success. We had a number of donors who were incredibly generous in both their financial donations as well as their time put against helping ther cause.

October is National Rett Syndrome Awareness Month and with that we are excited to deliver over a donation of $70,000 to the International Rett Syndrome Foundation. We will continue to concentrate our efforts on funding the 1st phase of the clinical trials for the drug NNZ-2566 (http://www.rettsyndrome.org/content/view/848/1147/) which are being held in conjunction with Children's Hospital in Housto. Neuren Pharmaceuticals has joined with the Baylor College of Medicine to test NNZ-2566 in a proposed Phase I and Phase IIa clinical trial. This proposed trial, along with the IGF-1 trial at the Children's Hospital in Boston, are trials designed to investigate whether these compounds can reverse some of the symptoms of Rett syndrome and modify the progression of the disorder in our Rett children. This announcement portrays the importance of partnerships between industry, academia, and private foundations like IRSF to accelerate bringing forward clinical trials specific to Rett syndrome.
