Good points Feral, Tesla had a lot of good engineering solutions esp the tabless electrode to save costs but in terms of ‘Battery Day’ it was anything but for the chemistry . Nothing detailed, just aspirational stuff the high nickel cathode is in ‘development’. Nothing detailed.Nothing in a vehicle now. The silicon anode? No details just vague reference to using silicon and binding it together with a coating. If it was that easy it would’ve been done 15 years ago. Jordon at The Limiting Factor looked perplexed about it as well I’d suggest. Chris Burns virtually called it out. Saying a radical change to a-completely untried silicon anode for what, a 5% cost saving?? Doesn’t make sense.Also not in a battery or vehicle now, or the foreseeable future. My view is it was a lot of PR. That the timetable pressure was too much to do everything .In the meanwhile they’re probably hoping NVX will finalise pilot plant trials and have something for them.
