Yes the first thing you do when you make a technical break through is to patent it. Keeping it secret doesn’t help if the details leak out somehow , then you have no legal protection unless you can prove it.
Having a patent solves that issue of course, but you have to technically prove it.
this is why Tesla patented their tabless electrode breakthrough , funny they haven’t done it for the no cobalt high nickel cathode ,and silicon anode....
