    IT is flea-ridden, termite-damaged throughout and has a stove that is rusted shut, but this derelict home in Sydney's northwest sold for $2.4 million under the hammer at the weekend.

    More than 300 onlookers crowded the overgrown 4000sq m block on Cherrybrook Rd, West Pennant Hills to see the property, which last exchanged hands in 1986 for $250,000, sell for "considerably more" than agent Brian Caba of Ray White Castle Hill expected.

    "In my 20 years of working in real estate, I've never had so much inquiry on any one property, I've never issued so many contracts on one property and I've never had so many registered buyers on one property," he said. "But I don't think I've ever seen a property in worse condition."
