since the govt. is a minority shareholder they don't have the power to break tls up without passing legislation to that effect....what are the chances?
any legislation breaking tls up would have huge consequences for the govt...because they would be screwing millions of mum and dad investors
every telco that has been forced to break itself into smaller bits has seen it's sp collapse...little wonder tls opposes this idea
i have dealt with numerous telco/net providers here as a customer...all of them have faults re. service
tls is a cash cow(this news year period was huge for their bottom line)that can easily service any debt it is carrying and pay healthy FULLY FRANKED divvies
being shut out of the nbn is a blessing imo....they can now pursue activities that make commercial sense rather than building a "one size fits all" fixed network with no clarity as to final costs or regulation
next gen wireless will cover the communication needs of the vast majority at a far lesser cost than FTTN
