Thanks TC I always find it annoying when many talk about the tax breaks some get through the likes of negative gearing etc. Most don't seem to appreciate or at least ignore the fact that those that are receiving them 1) pay more tax in the first place, and 2) still likely pay more tax than the complainer (even after these deductions are taken into account). Reality is the tax system is punitive for those that do the hard yards to earn more. Simplify the tax system with a flat tax rate for all and most of these issues would disappear - those that earn more would still pay more and those that earn less well things would not likely change much. The biggest problem with simplifying the tax system is there would be lots of ATO and accountants on the unemployment line!
