the short selling is part of the accumulation process, the short seller or associated parties would have a fairly good idea of the prospect for a left of field anno to come and blow the price out of the water and hence can short sell shares to drive down the price so as to be able to accumulate more shares cheaply, this only work well when there are a lot of shares in weak hands inclined to sell at low levels, probably using some misguided stop loss philosophy to allow the short seller to cover shorts and increase his overall share holding in the company
that is my theory anyhow, coupled with a belief that in time these price levels will be history owing to the quality of the asset and the concentration of share ownership, so do not be faked out, the share market is not a salvation army free ride, u need to be well researched and well capitalised to ride to the end with kalahari polo and rio on this one, so look away and wait for the pay day
cheers all
