Lim Guan Eng is Chief Minister of the State of Penang and Secretary-General of the Malaysian Democratic Action Party (DAP), one of the three making up the Opposition.

For a brief period about 12 months ago Lim became extremely vocal in the anti Lynas brigade, even surpassing Fuzzy with his totally researched, hysterical nonsense.

All of a sudden he stopped, complete silence, and not a word since. Turns out his home state Penang is the home to Malaysia's quite considerable electronics assembly industry.

Fair chance he got a quick tap on the shoulder and reminded where his bread and butter comes from. In the unlikely event the Opposition gains power I think we'd see a very similar outcome with the economic reality trumping all pre election dialogue.
