    Parkinsons has been on the list for a while, but the problem is getting it in the mouth :)

    Alzheimers...I doubt it. Probably Alzheimers involves genetics and the ravages of lifestyle. Given the overlap of vascular dementia and Alzheimers type, I doubt the idea will get off the ground.

    If it was a winner, we'd be sticking patches on Alzheimers patients.

    Acetylcholine is a core neurotransmitter in deficit in Alzheimers. It can be activated by nicotinic and muscarinic stimulants, hence the premise of using it as a treatment. Dubious logic.

    I think more likely, it impairs cognition, with the exception of the nicotine withdrawal situation, in which it relieves the withdrawal, restoring cognition.

    It therefore may hold most utility in the hospitalised agitated dement, who is agitated in part due to nicotine withdrawal.
