An Option is simply that.
In the case of ESIOB, an option to buy shares (convert the options to fully paid shares) in a company(ESI) in the future (expiry date) at a certain price (for ESIOB it is 0.015).
Or you can sell them before expiry date which is what you have done.
The only complication with ESIOB is that the ELF program has become available for those who wish to keep taking a punt on ESI by borrowing the money to convert their ESIOB into ESI shares and have the chance to "extend" their options for a further 3 years upon which time (or earlier of you wish) they have to pay the loan back plus interest to receive the fully paid ESI shares and be free to trade them.
