Not to mention that the coal that can be dug up will be able to be exported at relatively high prices, prices that if applied to domestic electricity generation will force Qld electricity prices higher faster.
UCG generates electricity from otherwise unusable resources (ie cheap) so offers a way to keep Qld power prices down
