Govt released them in anticipation of court reasoning .. they couldn't get them out into the general population quick enough, instead of drowning the process in red tape and procedures like the public dis-service does with every other program affecting the law abiding majority citizens.

Nov 8 2023: -Court gives its decison on releasing murderers, rapists and social scum making a mockery of the initial intent of the consititution by wordsmithing
Nov 10 - Govt doesn't bother opposing bail for the congenital undesirables and knee jerks into actual physical release of them
Nov 16 - Govt introduces changes to Migration Act for redetention after the horse has bolted
Nov 28 - Court hands in its reasons
Dec 2023 - Migration act passes after opposition gives Govt a well deserved shellacking
Post detention 2024 - Rapes, murders, public rage, etc and if a detainee doesn't agree with deportation, chances are the court will release them.
And then we have two below average ministers who are paralysed in making the hard decisions we all expect and PM who plays Pontious Pilate superbly.
