A lot according to this post 6724394 by Generalrelativity on 22052010
All got to do with what they call prill splits Dumbledore.
Here are the splits for NKPs project/s with an associated calc based on the then PGM prices.
Once again thanks to ???? the prill split differs for the Merensky Reef and the Upper Group 2 Reef as follows:
Merensky Reef Pt 56% Pd 28% Rh 3% Au 6% Other 7%
UG2 Reef Pt 40% Pd 38% Rh 8% Au 2% Other 12%
With the reefs split Merensky 60% : UG2 40%
As can be seen above, the overall 3PGM+Au prill split for the reefs is approximately 49.6% Pt, 32% Pd, 5% Rh and 4.4% Au. I take it that the 9.0% "Other" would refer to base metal by-products such as nickel and copper (Merensky) and chromitite (UG2) that are usually associated with platinum mining and which would add significant value to the ore.
The current 3PGM+Au basket price at price levels of Pt $US1460/oz; Pd $US384/oz; Rh $US2340/oz and Au $US1105/oz would be;
1460 x 0.496 = 724.16 +384 x 0.320 = 122.88 +2340 x 0.050 = 117.00 +1105 x 0.044 = 48.62 CURRENT BASKET PRICE = $US1012.66
