...a well head is custom-made to fit the drilling rig and can vary in design. It's main purpose is to connect to a Blowout Preventer[BOP] and whatever couplings to facilitate take-off ie oil, gas, etc etc. My understanding is that the unexpected encounter with sub-artesian water was damaging and dangerous to human life .....Hence the decision [announced] to beef up the BOP from 5000 psi to 10,000 psi.The new well head which is coming/has come from Singapore, where there are only a coupla firms making well-heads, could have been ordered to facilitate oil/gas extraction...who knows?....they ain't tellin us anything....LEE[a happy little "mushroom"]
