The Aztecs would sacrifice people to curry favour with the weather gods, thanks to education, industrialisation, advances in computers and mass media our High Priests have refined the practice.
They don’t rip the hearts out of unlucky peasants as there’s no profit in that but green tax, subsidies, committing to emissions targets based on finding power generation alternatives that don’t exist in a viable format yet certainly can rip the heart out of countries economies.
I don’t think anyone disputes the fact that humanity does impact on the environment/climate or that humanity should work towards much of what the believers suggest. The difference between those who have total belief in MMCC and that the end is near to the less convinced is more a question of how to approach this obvious transition.
Panic and haste maybe needed or may cause more harm than benefits but nobody can be sure based on what is known now.
