I believe that could have happened, clacoste. Intending hajjis often go to paradise instead of Mecca, by default, on ME airlines. I read the accident report on one flight where they left a trail of a hundred or more hajjis on the ground due to a cabin fire where the floor disappeared.The pilots had no idea till "Where's that smoke coming from" in the cockpit". That wasnt due to a cooking episode, that was due to a tire blowing on takeoff ("what was that?" on the voice recorder) and setting fire to the luggage hold after gear up, and up through the cabin.I think, from memory, there was a heap of oxygen generators in the luggage hold that didnt help matters. By the time the crew was aware of a problem, they were all doomed.
