I am not sticking up for anyone, and believe it is irresponsible to allow building on flood plains.

All our capital cities and major towns are actually built close to the rivers that wind their way around this great land.

Some people only seem to only want to live near the CBD, so the cash strapped councils are taking a risk and giving in to the demand.

Maybe some people think the risk of an event that may only happen once every 100 years, is worth taking the chance.

All our major cities and towns have the same exposure to these weather events.
