Nature at her best !!
Year-to-year fluctuations in area and depth are caused byvariations in stratospheric temperature and circulation. Colder conditions result in a larger area and lower ozone values in the centre of the hole.
Today, the ozone hole still exists, forming every year over Antarctica in the spring. It closes up again over the summer as stratospheric air from lower latitudes is mixed in, patching it up until the following spring when the cycle begins again.21 Mar 2022
