We are fortunate that our wind and solar resources make them much more cost competitive that nuclear even without factoring the external costs and risk of nuclear. Other nations aren't so lucky, nuclear may make sense for them.
We shouldn't be exporting coal for power, the technology for steel without coal isn't ready but it needs to be soon. The change will take a long time, at least decades, this is why those that have delayed since the 1980's are reprehensible.
The alternative is to do nothing until the impacts of AGW reduce emissions by destruction. Taking the easy route now and leaving this for the future is the moral failure of AGW denial.
